Meet The Team

(About Us) Meet the Team-Tammy Reece, Executive Director

Tammy Reece (Founder of Peyton’s Project)

I have a BS in psychology and another in education.   I worked for 7 years in social work, then obtained my education degree.  I taught fourth grade for five years.  In 2008 my husband, Kurt, and I purchased a party rental business.   At this point, I combined my education and psychology experience and dove into marketing.

I am the founder Peyton’s Project.  This organization was founded from a tragedy that struck the heart of my family.  My 23-month-old niece, Peyton Alexandra Hood, was killed on August 10, 2010 by a newborn Western Diamondback rattlesnake bite while playing on a swing set at our family’s cabin at Possum Kingdom Lake.  Following her death, I began researching rattlesnakes as therapy to deal with the pain of her death and an attempt to make sense of it.  I discovered there is a vast amount of information that I either did not know or failed to determine relevant until the incident.  It became my mission to educate and raise awareness to prevent others from a similar fate.

My love of family, networking and education set my current path.  I am passionate about the mission of Peyton’s Project.
